A New Journey Begins

A message from the Chief Executive Producer
John Bittleston is 77. I am 32.
We have fewer things in common than a chicken and a cheese. He knows more about the world than I do and I know more about the world than I think he thinks I do.
But when we met, the strange fate that draws 2 very different characters together struck. We thus embarked on the journey to turn The Travels of Wiglington and Wenks into a phenomenal virtual world for kids.
6 years ago when I set up MediaFreaks I had never imagined that we would one day create a virtual world. It would be a most unlikely situation for an animation studio. But we went ahead to put together the finest team of talents we could find.
For more than a year, my team has worked hard to make this virtual world a reality. Every single day, we wake up with the determination to make this the best virtual world for kids ever. Not just in terms of fun, but also in terms of educational values.
John has been a good friend, a mentor and a reliable business partner. Above all, he is a wise man who is genuinely concerned about people and the world. The gems of his wisdom and concern are evident in The Travels of Wiglington and Wenks story book series.
I hope – as the person responsible for creating and stewarding the development of the virtual world – I have done his masterpiece justice.
Tomorrow this part of the journey will end with the official launch of the virtual world and a new stage of the journey will begin.
I invite you to ride with us on this new exciting adventure.

WW Server

"Hey guys, WW will be undergoing quite a long maintenance mode today as we are prepping up many of the other locations, running some test and updating stuffs.

There will also be a time somewhere between 8pm -9pm Wiglington Time that the server will be out for a while as we will undergo some hardware upgrade. Please don't be alarm if you arent able to get into the forum. We promised to be back!

So let's all take the day off for a while, update our blogs and have a chat on the forum as we prepare for the launch!"

A message from the Author

Napoleon said ‘Geography is History’. It is true that when Geography was taken off the curriculum of many schools across the world, kids lost a bit of history - that exciting foreword to their own lives, full of exemplary role models and horrendous, hair-raising warnings. I decided that my own children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were not going to miss this important introduction to the thrills, challenges and sheer fun of their time on our planet. So I wrote The Travels of Wiglington and Wenks, four books of daring adventure, exploration and mind-bending problems.

From a play, an exhibition, a board game and a film trailer, MediaFreaks have now developed the stories into online Computer Games and a Wiglington and Wenks Virtual World. In these, kids are challenged to learn about the world’s cultures, about the challenges of climate change and a rapidly growing population, and to see the wonderful, limitless opportunities for all who have the courage to seize them.

As a source of fun for the young they are without equal. And there is no better way of learning about the wonders today’s kids will soon help to shape - both for the kids themselves and for their parents who are as bewildered as the rest of us by the speed of change and the hopes and dreams that change opens up.

In the Wiglington and Wenks Virtual World kids help to shape and construct an environment in their own image and to their own standards. Packed full of surprises and with endless opportunities to demonstrate their abilities and skills, Wiglington and Wenks future is in their hands - just as the real world is. Just as it should be.

Today on the Wiglington server, around 11:30, I saw mFruit! We were both outside of the Bank and Cinema. Our visit was very brief.

Hey! The virtual world is now officially out of Open Beta! The big launch party isn't coming for a few days, but Beta is still officially over!

WW Party Moderators!

"Here’s the info on WW Party Mods.

Code of the Exclusive Wiglington and Wenks Party Moderators

There is the misconception by some that being a WW Party Moderator is less prestigious than being a ‘real’ moderator. Well, let us put it straight - that’s wrong thinking! It’s not easy being selected to be a WW Party Moderator too. To prove it, here’s the code the WW Party Mods have to follow.

1. They must be FUN, FUNNY, WITTY and FULL OF ENERGY.
2. They must help make parties fun and lively
3. They must keep the parties safe from party crashers
4. They must make sad players happy and bad players sad
5. They must radiate positive energy and bring happiness to the virtual world

The Structure

So here’s how it will be structured.

In order of authority, this is the chain of command -

• Party Chief
• Party Moderators
• Trainee Party Moderators

Party Chief

There will only be 1 Party Chief at any one time. Consider the Party Chief to be the highest Party Mod position awarded to any player.

Prior to being a Party Chief, he/she must have served as a Party Mod for at least 1 year. The candidate must know the rules of WW by heart, have no blemished track record and is able to show commitment in serving the WW community for at least another year.
The Party Chief will be nominated by the Party Mods and the Staff.
Responsibilities

1. Ensure that all Party Moderators are doing their jobs
2. Ensure that at least 4 parties are being organized per month, including special occasions and holidays
3. Ensure that party games and rules are laid out and known to all players of WW
4. Organize party schedules and delegate jobs to all Party Moderators
5. Moderate and publicize the WW Party Network
6. Lead all Party Moderators to make Wiglington and Wenks a really fun place to party in!

Privileges

1. The ability to ban bad players for 1 week
2. Access to the exclusive Mod’s Club
3. Free full premium Membership as long as they remain active as a Mod
4. 1500 rollars and 1500 WW Virtual Credits monthly
5. The exclusive WW Party Chief’s T-shirt and Mug
6. Exclusive Party Chief’s Hat
7. Exclusive Party Chief’s Frebo

Party Moderators

The Party Moderator is the title held by an official Party Moderator.
Prior to being official Party Moderators, they must have served as a Trainee Party Moderator for at least 3 months.
Party Moderators must be committed to service the WW community for at least 1 year. They would assist the Party Chief in planning any programs and also be a mentor to newly appointed mods to help them get accustomed to the responsibilities.
Their responsibilities are similar to that of being a Trainee Party Moderator, but they will have more rewards for being an official Party Mod.
Responsibilities

1. Run at least 4 parties (as a group) every month on Wiglington and Wenks
2. Encourage players to throw parties
3. Invent party games and teach players how to play them
4. Invite players to parties via the WW Party Network and WW Blog
5. Encourage players to participate in the parties
6. Help players throwing parties to moderate the parties and organize games (but be careful not to spoil the fun by being too strict!)
7. Kick bad players on Wiglington and Wenks
8. Moderate and publicize the WW Party Network

Privileges

Trainee Party Moderators

Trainee Scouts is the title held by Party mods-in-training.
The reason for having Trainee Party Mods is to ensure that they are truly committed to being a Party Moderator on Wiglington and Wenks and will not give up halfway. They will need to serve for at least 3 months before they can be considered for promotion to an official Party Moderator.
Responsibilities

1. Run at least 4 parties (as a group) every month on Wiglington and Wenks
2. Encourage players to throw parties
3. Invent party games and teach players how to play them
4. Invite players to parties via the WW Party Network and WW Blog
5. Encourage players to participate in the parties
6. Help players throwing parties to moderate the parties and organize games (but be careful not to spoil the fun by being too strict!)
7. Kick bad players on Wiglington and Wenks
8. Moderate and publicize the WW Party Network

Privileges

1. The ability to kick bad players
2. Access to the exclusive Mod’s Club

During the trial probation period, Trainee Party Mods will be watched over closely by senior Mods and staff. Any complaints against them will be investigated thoroughly and if found guilty, will impact their progress to being promoted to be an official Mod. In serious cases, their Trainee Party Mods status will be taken away.

We are starting to speak to all potential Trainee Party Mod candidates now and will announce the names very soon."
